'Going Local ' Final PieceThis was the first piece of work I made on GIGA and the first truly creative piece I had made up until that point. In this piece I - rather obviously - placed now-President Trump and Kim-Jong-Un either side of a mushroom-cloud (french nuclear test) and placed above the ending line of a poem, but with a slight modification to show what could be if these two where to have a 'major disagreement'. this piece was made using Inkscape and was originally a vector graphic before being made a '.png' for grading.

Project 'Futures' -- South Devon Community 'REN ' RebrandFor this project, the class was tasked with creating new Brand Identities for a community energy company. South Devon Community Renewable Energy Network (SDCREN) had an idetity that left a lot to be desired; with the lack of a logo, mascot or any type of company-specific stationary. This gave me more-or-less free reign over the direction I could have gone.
In the end I looked at what energy sources they used and attempted to create a logo to include or compliment all for these, the generation methods they used were; BioMass, BioGas, Hydroelectric and Wind. this gave me a variety of different ideas to follow, one group of paths that combined all methods rather nicely was a leaf/ flame/ water drop idea because they were all represented as similar shapes (E.G. British Gas' "flame" logo). The mascot i made was an early concept they can develop later on, he was drawn in a style similar to 50's cartoons, with a color pallette akin to George Jetson's from The Jetsons. in earlier sketches i made for the body he would have resembled a modern manga character, which was definitely not the theme i was going for, i was going to use the 50's theme to hark to the Atomic-Age vibe almost to say that this is the second 'Golden Age of power'. For the business card and compliment slip I chose to take inspiration from the area itself, South Devon.the area is bordered by Dartmoor to its north and the coast to the south, this allowed me to create a 'hills to sea' background with a blue-grey 'sky' to compliment the constantly changing weather. The inspiration for which actually can be seen from some higher areas in South Devon.
The letter header followed the same process but I found it would be more energy efficient and cost effective to have a plain white 'sky section'. |
